Lotus Tours.lk began in 2014 as a single Toyota Hiace and a promise: every visitor deserves the trip a local friend would plan for them. Today we're a team of four guides, six drivers and a small office in Colombo — still building every itinerary by hand, still answering WhatsApp within the hour.
Our story
Lotus Tours was started by Ruwan Perera after fifteen years driving for one of Colombo's largest hotels. He noticed the same thing on every airport pickup: guests arrived with a checklist of "must-do" stops but no sense of the country in between. Kandy in a rush. Sigiriya at the wrong hour. Yala on the busiest afternoon of the week.
We built Lotus Tours around a different idea — that a great Sri Lanka trip is really a great driver-guide. Someone who knows which viewpoint has no crowds at 6:30 a.m., which curry shop the tuk-tuk drivers eat at, and when to stop for a king coconut. Every one of our guides has been on the road here for at least a decade, and every trip we run is fully private.
We work with locally-owned guesthouses across the hill country and coast, hire only fluent-English drivers, and keep the office small enough that the person planning your itinerary is the same one who'll answer your WhatsApp on day three when you decide to add a cooking class.
