Mirissa Blue Whale Watching Tour
Small-boat blue whale and dolphin watching from Mirissa harbour with a licensed skipper and marine biologist on board.
Overview
Between November and April, the deep waters off Dondra Head — Sri Lanka''s southern tip — host one of the highest concentrations of blue whales on the planet, along with sperm whales, Bryde''s whales and huge super-pods of spinner dolphins. Our tour goes out with a small-boat, licensed operator that keeps a respectful distance and follows the Government of Sri Lanka whale-watching code of conduct. We include hotel pickup from Mirissa, Weligama or Galle, breakfast on board, sea-sickness tablets, and a professional briefing before departure. Sightings are not guaranteed, but the season average is 90%+ for at least one whale encounter. **Best season:** Nov–Apr (peak Dec–Mar) · **Difficulty:** Easy but open sea — motion-sickness prone guests should take medication 60 min before boarding · **Suitable for:** Ages 5+ · **Packing:** Sunscreen, hat, camera with zoom, light jacket for spray.
